From Summer to WHAT!!!

This is what we came home to on Monday afternoon. We went from a round of golf on Friday with the temp at 63*f in Overland Park to a complete different world. 4*f and 8" of blown and drifted snow. Thankful for the extra night in OP and for son for digging a path to our garage so we could get in the driveway
I just keep thinking of the Okoboji vacation and the summer outings but they are fading, so looking forward to another spring and summer with family and friends.
How in the world can this happen in just a few short months.
Welcome to Iowa folks.

Day Trip to Eau Claire WI.

This is a picture of Debbie and Sharon in front of Shelly and Mikes new house in Eau Claire. To the left is a three stall garage. Out back is a great deck off their kitchen dinning area and a nice yard. We had a great time riding up with Deb and Paul on Wed. About 3 hrs 45 min from our place. It was fun to see the excitement of the kids with their new home. Thanks for a great day Debbie and Paul.

P.S. The bath room in the basement is complete and functional !! Welcome anyone who wants to come and stay. We now have some capacity for guests.

Bath Update

Have you ever noticed the limited space there is in a bathroom. There is plenty of room for a shower and any needs. But just try to take pictures in your run of the mill basement bath addition.
The flooring was a helpfull idea of Paula's. Go to Home Depot!! They have a great selection and even I can do it. It is a floating vinyl stick together plank. I didn't even have to read those spanish directions!!
Oh by the way Brent the outlets are all grd fault. And I did read those directions and tested them for proper installation. The circuit even triped when I accidently hit an outlet with a little paint.
Note the shiny walls. Ron came in and worked his magic mudding the joints. Then Art suggested a semi-gloss latex epoxy finish coat over a latex primer. Well thats about it, just one door to hang, finish the trim and hook up the water and drain .
Hmmm ? I wonder if that will get me a free pass to golf and fish this summer? I have a few ideas for next winter but for now I think I will keep them under my hat.

Basement Bath

The shower is set in place and ready for the plumber. I decided to hire a real plumber for solder fittings and plastic peck connections. I know the difference between efficiency and twenty trips to town for the right parts.

The wireing was completed this morning. The lights and fan work with the right switches. No Sparks!!!

Well I better read my how to drywall book.

Second thought, it's a good time to take a break and head to Overland Park. I'm sure the boss will approve.

Project Update

The walls are up and the shower pan and drain are in place. I hope I don't have to move that door again. Yea, I guess it will swing in now and still have room for light switches in a more traditional location. The next move is to rough in the electrical components for the outlets, fan and lighting. Then some more plumbing. Well mabe the flooring. Or maybe the sheetrock.

Decisions are more or less hour to hour and day to day depending on choice of trade, labor grade or payscale I feel like persuing at the moment.

Well now you know why it takes a whole week to progress so little. It sure is enjoyable to work at my own pace and leisure.

I have a great boss!!! She is so encouraging and even furnishes hot meals and clean clothes.

Well I have to go I have a meeting with my consultant and architech.

Brooke note the new lumber. He! He!

New Project

Note the cupboards are gone and the mess cleaned up
Eventually this will be a much needed bath in the basement. It just dawned on us, after raising five children and now expecting our tenth grandchild, we could use the extra capacity.
